I moved to Japan at the worst possible time..

For as long as I could remember, I always told my friends, "I'd love to live in Japan someday. How could would that be?" Fast forward to September of this year - I found myself boarding a flight to Tokyo to live out a dream I never thought would happen. Normally, moving here is a relatively straight forward process. But, I came to Japan during a time that was, and is, far from normal.
Moving here was one of the toughest experiences I've ever had to deal with. From jumping through extra hoops to get my visa, getting a PCR test 72 hours prior to leaving, to trying to enter the country during a travel ban, it felt like a constant struggle. Not to mention the hassle of selling off all of my personal belongings and saying goodbye to my family. But I knew it would be worth it because I had someone very special waiting for me once I arrived. Oh, I had a two week mandatory quarantine waiting for me, too. That wasn't fun.
But, I'm here. I can finally start living my dream. Getting into Japan was only half of the struggle. The other? Well, that's finding work. It's a slow, painful process, but I'm here to stay.
2020 is turning out to be quite the year, indeed...
